structures and the private sector)

Some of these challenges
are present in both East and West, but some of them
are very specific for the region. The Knot therefore
develops a strategy for this region. The aims of this
strategy are the following: |

- Building and empowering the NGO sector in the
CIS region
- Stimulating democratic leadership at local and
regional levels
- Stimulating regional, national and international
cooperation and networking
- Helping the development of democratic and participatory
policies
- Building cross-cultural bridges between the CIS
countries and the EU
- Stimulating the development of democratic, transparent
and need fulfilling NGO’s
- Gathering and distributing information about
NGO work within the region and between the ‘East’
and the ‘West’
- Improving cooperation between non-governmental,
governmental and private sector
